Background... (Applies to Network Solutions domains only)
In order for a hosting
company to provide web hosting and email services to its clients it needs to have
limited control over the particular domain name for period in which the
hosting company is going to provide service to the client. This comes as the designation
of the hosting company as the Technical Contact for the domain and assigning the hosting company's DNS or Name Server Information for the domain to answer to the hosting company's web servers.
The "Technical Contact",
and "Name Server Information" dictates such control and is specified during
initial domain name registration. Or, it is modified later which is what
this 'How To' document deals with.
e-sitehost.com domain name
registrations are maintained in a central "Who is"database. You may see your own
domain's "Who is" record by using the form fields above.
The "Technical Contact"
under your "Who is" record would need to read as follows in order for e-sitehost.com
to provide you web and email services:

Modifying your domain name record...
The process
of modifying your domain name record is not difficult. It can be accomplished
three ways: "Manage Your Account Style" (directly at the networksolutions.com
website), "Electronically" (sent via email), or "Manual Letter" (fax a
letter). The three methods described:
Manage Your Account
Style...
This is a new feature
offered to recent Network Solutions domain name registrants. It offers
the most expedient transfer for Network Solutions domains. New domain name registrants may simply fill out this form and e-sitehost.com will register your domain and handle modifications for you.
Electronically...
This method is
most common for Network Solutions domains. It is commonly difficult and offers 24-48 hour transfer
completion. The Electronic method uses an 'email template' that is sent
to hostmaster@networksolutions.com and is processed automatically by
a computer. Each field must be formatted exactly, or the request is
"kicked back'. Each Electronic transfer attempt generates a Tracking
Number that may found in the subject of the email reply from Network
Solutions. e-sitehost.com will be happy to create the email template for you, and have it sent to your "admin" Nic handle email address.
Manual Letter ...
When all else fails
this method may be used. A letter may be sent via US Mail ,or via FAX
to Network Solutions requesting the domain name transfer. This method
is processed by humans, and generally takes 3-5 days to complete. A
Tracking Number generated from an Electronic transfer template sent to the new "admin" Nic handle contact email address must be included with the letter. (You must attempt an Electronic Transfer before
employing the Manual Letter method) Network Solutions has a tool to generate the letter for you on their web site: http://networksolutions.com
To make a
request o modify your domain name record at Network Solutions yourself click |> here, and
supply your domain name. If your domain was recently registered you will
have the opportunity to modify your domain immediately, otherwise proceed
to 'Expert Forms', and then proceed to 'Service Agreement'.
Enter your
"admin" Nic handle email address (the email template will be sent to this address, and the email address must at least
be listed as one of the contacts, the most important is the admin contact for the domain name), and click 'Proceed'.
You can now
make any necessary modifications to your domain record. Most importantly
you want to modify the "Technical Contact", and "Name Server Information"
with the information provided to you in the beginning of this document.
Click 'Submit
This Form for Processing', and check your email for the template to arrive.
When the email arrives you will need to reply to, or forward it on the
address provided to you in the beginning of the message, and send the reply from the Nic handle contact email address. Only after this
step will your request for domain modification take place. *You must read the email and Authorize the changes as required before sending.
Provided all the above steps were completed correctly, in roughly
24-48 hours, your domain's record will be correctly modified so that e-sitehost.com
can be begin hosting your site and providing you with email services.

Common Problems...
Problem: The email was returned
stating there was an error processing the request.
Solutions: Make
sure your email program does not place or indent any special characters
in your reply, or forward. This is a common mistake and will cause your
request to be returned unsuccessful.
TIP: When the message is received, take your cursor and copy
the entire message to your clipboard, open a new message and paste the
contents of your clipboard into the new message, address the email appropriately,
and send it!
